Recently recruited by the Order, however still a novice at time-travel, Cowboy is sent forward through space and time to rescue Druidess Aron MacKintosh. Expecting an old cantankerous female, Cowboy was struck silly by his first sight of Aron, hanging naked in all her glory, chained to a staircase. Quickly, his chivalrous nature kicks in and he liberates Aron from her shackles, even giving her his pants when demanded. Cowboy’s attempt to return her to his timeline in Scotland is complicated by a surprise attack from an unknown entity that has abilities beyond those known to the Order.

As a Druidess, Aron is used to dealing with overzealous Brothers from the Order. However, something about Cowboy tugs at her heart. Perhaps it’s the way he continually seeks to protect her, even given her less than polite attitude toward him, or maybe it’s his straining muscles that are exposed for her repeated perusal. As Aron and Cowboy fight for their lives against the mysterious entity, a bond is born between them.

NAKED ON THE STAIRCASE is a complex time-travel fantasy that should appeal to lovers of the genre. For those readers who are not huge fans of time-travel and alternative timeline stories, this may not be the right book for them. I found the beginning chapter of the book to be somewhat difficult to follow due to the less than complete background set-up of the world. The writing style was a bit jumpy for my taste, but, once I got my bearings I enjoyed the story. The characters were entertaining and had good interactions with each other. Skhye Moncrief has written an interesting tale with an original plot and fantasy world.
